Rocker Arm Suggestions

Just looking for suggestions/advice on some rocker arms.

My 95 LT1 engine has a CC503 cam with the suggested CC magnum rocker arms, push rods, lifters and valve springs.

After pulling a valve cover I noticed the roller rocker tips were damaged. Looks almost like the hard coating on the roller wore off. (see attachment)

Anyone seen this before? CC doesn't warranty the roller or repair it separately.
The rockers had around 5-10k miles.

Looking for suggestions on a replacement rocker arm, i'm reluctant to use a replacement comp cams rocker.

Re: Rocker Arm Suggestions

You might try Crane Gold rockers. I have a set and after 10years/30,000mikes they still look like new.

I thinkmComp now owns Crane but I'm not certain....

Nope...S&S cycles owns Crane, not Comp.

Re: Rocker Arm Suggestions

I have had my Comp Pro Mags in 2 motors now with at least 30k miles and they look new.

OP, how tight was your lash?

your tips show excessive wear either from defective metallurgy or lash to tight. If the later I would also be concerned about lifter to cam lobe wear

Re: Rocker Arm Suggestions

Honestly I can't remember what preload I put on the lifters, my guess is half a turn past 0 lash. I would have followed instructions that came with the rocker arms or the factory service manual.

The rollers on the lifters and camshaft lobes show almost no wear, and no damage.

Re: Rocker Arm Suggestions

1/2 turn on lash is fine...assuming you started at "zero"

good the lifters and cam lobes look good. Get a new set of RR

Re: Rocker Arm Suggestions

No need to distrust the Comp ProMag or Ultra ProMag full roller rockers. They're tougher than any $300-$400 aluminum rockers including the Crane Golds.
Somebody just made a mistake with those.

Re: Rocker Arm Suggestions

It appears there was some rust on them. I don't recall ever seeing this.
