replacement muffler (what's best)
I have the stock exhaust on my 94 Z28 and was wondering what is the best sounding muffler and can you expect any horsepower gains from it. I dont care for it being real loud just sound pretty good.
thanks

any muffler should be an improvement in sound, how much hp will depend on the type of muffler.
i know flowmasters souind good on stock exhausts, although they are not known for great flow, but you'll probably pick up a couple hp.
a good choice would be the magnaflow muffler, they sound great, flow great and have a good polished finish (or at least most do).
something i've thought of doing is running a flowtech "Warlock" muffler. it looks like a decent flowing muffler, and it has a built in cutout that allows you to uncap it and bypass the muffler. not a bad price considering you'll get a good sound as well as a cutout all in one.

Don't know how stock you want to keep your car, but I went with a Dynomax muffler, and a slp y pipe. The y pipe made a BIG difference. It is not loud at idle, but people ask me all the time if I have headers on my car. If you are not doing headers, the y pipe is the best mod you can do for your car in my opinion. A high flow cat will make your car louder also.
