Quick easy Comp R/any lifter question.

If it's been sitting, and the lifters have bled down, how easy should it be to press on the pushrod end of a rocker and compress the lifter down?? If one was say, very easy to compress, would that possibly signify a problem?? This would be done with each cylinder at TCD by the way, for equal comparisons' sake.

How far down are you able to push it?

Quite a ways. Not sure if it was bottoming out or not, but it was probably in the area of 1/2"+.

Don't the CompR's have an internal spring? That should be pushing back I would assume.

"Quick easy Comp R/any lifter question"

LOL, I don't think it's possible on this board.

Are you pressing it in by hand or with the rocker nut? If that lifter had been sitting compressed (by postion and valve adjustment) and then brought up to TDC, then it might not have much oil in it.

True statement.

As for the lifter, the car was actually warm last time I tried it. I was using the respective rocker, just pushing down on the back side of it directly on to the pushrod.

The biggest thing is that I had the opportunity to try it on a brand new stock lifter that had never been submerged in oil, and also on a set of very very low mileage (less than 1000) stock lifters as installed in a car. The ones in the car should have still had oil in them (not sure), and I COULD NOT move them at all. The one out of the car, it took almost everything I had to compress it to about 1/4-1/3 inch.
