Questions about 160* Thermo w/o fan switch

I recently purchased a manual fan switch from Speed Speciality along with a 160* Thermostat from Thunder Racing. After installing the fan switch it wouldn't work so I e-mailed Speed Speciality about getting a new one(they still haven't e-mailed me back yet and it's been a week ), so I put off installation of the 160* Thermostat. Now to my question: Is it ok to install the thermostat even if I don't have a way to turn the fans on & off manually, because I'm tired of looking at the thermostat when it could be on my car. Thanks in advance.

Re: Questions about 160* Thermo w/o fan switch

yes you can put the thermo in with out a fan switch. I have a 160 degree thermo with out any fan switch or programming to turn the fan on. My car sits a little bit over the 160 mark and won't get any higher unless its about 100+ degrees out. If its mild out my car can sit still, idleing and never get hot. So i would say the fan switch isn't necessary.

A switch defiitely isnt necessary. I dont have one either and you really dont need one. I'd like a switch just because when I'm at the staging lane I have no way of keeping my car cool unless I push it the whole way.

Re: Questions about 160* Thermo w/o fan switch

your fans can be programmed through your PCM. simply dropping the 160* stat in will already lower the temp at which your car runs. programming + a 160* stat and you can practically have your fans come on whenever you want.

no need for a $60 fan switch that you'll never use.

Re: Questions about 160* Thermo w/o fan switch

Should I use silicone to help seal the inlet neck to the water pump after I install the thermostat? Thanks.

Yea... I car NEVER goes up passed the 180 mark? It always since between the first two and when i'm on the highway, its damn near on 160. I have the tuning plus the thermostat. I love the cooler air... the hot air used to scare me. L0L
