Starter problem - solenoid?

Starter problem - solenoid?
Starter just clicks when I turn key.
The starter pinion is extending to the driveplate but not turning.
The starter motor however does operate when 12v is applied to it.
It is the solenoid?
If so, can I swap it or do I need a whole new starter?

Re: Starter problem - solenoid?
Yah that trick got me through last week but I got cruise nights to go to this weekend... my luck I'll have to pry the driveplate to a perfect spot or try the hammer trick - embarassing eh?

Re: Starter problem - solenoid?
Fixed - swapped solenoid. The solenoid operated but it wasn't tranferring voltage over to the starter motor once the pinion extended. Unfortunately that part of the solenoid didn't come apart.
