Oil Cooler Delete... Looking for a Part Number

I'm looking for the part number for the adapter that bolts into the block for the LT1 to delete the oil cooler and fit an oil filter directly onto the block. I thought that it was the same as a SBC but when i look that up it says for all blocks except LT1 and LS1. If someone can help me out i'd appreciate that.

Thanks.

GM # 3952301, but I am pretty sure it is the same as any SBC.

Rob:

Is it possible the oil cooler LT1's already have the oil filter adapter in the stock location, and the Modine oil cooler heat exchanger is held up against the adapter by the large nut, with threads on both end - the top to thread onto the oil filter adapter, and the other end to mount the filter - in effect an extension of the filter adapter.

I have a cooler, but I did not reassemble it on the stroker, the shop that built the engine reinstalled it.

The 94 factory manual diagram appears to show it that way.

Found this:

The parts book does mention the cooler seals against the oil adapter, but the adapter has a different part number than the one used without the cooler. I don't know what the difference is.

I did look up your above part # online, and it does show on the Scoggin-Dickey site as not for LT1 and LS1. Maybe because of the oil cooler on some LT1's??????

Interesting...since it is right out of the parts book (for cars without oil cooler). My adapter has a casting number that ends in 2 (though, we know casting numbers and part numbers are not always exactly the same).

The adapter is already in the stock location. All you need to do to use it is to cut off the long heads of the existing bolts or use new bolts.

I have heard other people say this, too.

I've also done one on a friend's car and didn't buy any parts to eliminate it.

Re: Oil Cooler Delete... Looking for a Part Number

I thought the adapter was already in place. See we gave our friend a 96 engine block that he had machined and what not. He didn't want to put on the oil cooler and i thought you could just screw the filter into the adapter and be okey dokey.

He said the adapter he had for a sbc did fit (before he thought it wouldn't because of on-line crap). Just that a sbc oil filter will seal against the block?
