OBD1 PCM for 1997 LT1?

Been keeping my eyes open for 94/95 LT1 donor cars for drive-line swaps and was wondering what is involved in let's say using a 16188051 pcm to run a 96/97 LT1 drive-line.

Concerns: PCM connectors, sensors and automatic transmission functions etc?

Don't want to pass on a deal if a OBD2 LT1 car surfaces.

Thanks

All you have to do is use a knock sensor that matches the PCM OBD type. Everything else connects up and works (naturally, anything specifically added by OBD-II won't).

Thanks

I assume the auto-transmission could be a problem?

Read this, with regard to a possible issue with the resistance of the 3-2 downshift solenoid when using a 94/95 PCM with a 96/97 4L60E:

LTXTECH Forums

'94 or '95 computer will not accept the 20-31 OHM 3-2 solenoid and will throw an SES light and throw the transmission into limp mode. Some less knowledgeable builders will swap the solenoid so the computer will see the correct resistance, but the valve itself then causes downshift issues. If only the solenoid is changed, it will result in a 3-2 downshift cut loose. In other words...3-neutral-2 downshift. Speedo moved to passenger side of tail housing, but easily changed.
Special thanks to Frank Cahall..... wish he would come visit us more often.

I guess the folks in the past that swapped back and forth from I to II must have had manual transmissions. Thanks for posting that up, Fred.

Just swap the valve body over

The linked post explains that, along with the separator plate, and the solenoid.
