1.6 full roller rockers

will replacing my stock lt1 rockers with 1.6 scorpion full roller rockers and a stock tune with a jet stage 1 chip in my car work together or will i have to go with a computer tune and do away with my chip to get these 1.6's to work correctly.. im not upgrading the cam, heads or anything else unless its necessary

Forget the Jet stage 1 thing and just put in the rockers - those are a very good upgrade from stock - and make sure you adjust them correctly because a lot of guys seem to screw that up. I'd rather see you spend money on new valve springs than the Jet module. Even a mail order tune would be way better than that.

yea i know the jets not all that great, was nice for seeing how my car would react to higher shift points but other than that no big difference.

so i shouldnt need anything else except maybe stronger valve springs? is a mail order tune a must have along with these rockers and possibly springs?

I'd say springs more so than the tune, however, the tune will find you some ponies in the part of the rpm range where the factory left it extra rich to prevent you from destroying it.

the link in my signature is to a good set of springs. will give you some room for a cam later if you decide to go that route..

also you could use LT4 valve springs
those seem to be some pretty decent springs and for a great price! I will be looking at purchasing these rockers and springs soon unless i find something a bit better.

Alex doesn't say where he gets his springs, so I would find that out before buying them as cheap as those are. Otherwise get some 918 beehives from Comp or Pac. You will need some new retainers and maybe seats, but those are good springs at least.

Another option for those of us on a budget: Bullet VS574 springs (which you can get from Bullet for $60 and reuse your current valve hardware though new locks and stem seals are probably warranted.)

thanks for everyone's help.. i highly appreciate it. im still open for more ideas as im still in the learning stages of top end upgrades.. but from what i understand those scorpion rockers are the bomb for what im looking at doing with my good ol z28

You are welcome. Do some springs while you are in there (shbox has great help web page that he keeps current with a how-to). Stock LT1 are 85#/260#. A lot of guys do the LT4 springs (100#/260#) but the LT4 solves the lack of valve control thru a lighter valve (LT4 valves are 1/3 less than LT1), LT4 spring only has marginally more seat pressures so is not going to do a whole lot to help an LT1 other than support more lift. The LT1 cams are billet so you can put some pretty stout springs onto an LT1; getting the valve train stable above 5000 rpm really helps a lot on power.

So I could go with new stock springs along with those scorpion rockers? I thought i'd have to get springs that handle a little more lift. Enlighten me please, i may have confused myself

The stock LT1 springs are both weak and lift limited; LT4 have more lift (ovate springs) but are also pretty weak. Go with aftermarket springs. Think you have the LT1 cam still so either the springs you had or the bullets will work to improve the LT1.

The LT4 are OK. They are an ovoid spring so more lift, "problem" is the LT4 used valves that are 2/3 the weight of the LT1. So what you end up with using LT4 springs with an LT1 cam and 1.6 rockers is a spring with a bit more seat pressure (100 vs 80#s) but no more open pressure than the LT1 spring. Something stiffer in both seat and open pressure, either the bullets or those springs you have listed, provide much more pressure and will help control the LT1 valves as well as more lift for the 1.6 rockers.
