My horn/lighter fuse keeps blowing out

Every time I put a new 25 amp fuse it blows out when I press the horn. I seem to think a mechanic once said, after working on my car, that I had two horns and he disconnected one??? I didn't know what the hell he was talking about then, but I think that what ever he did might have something to do with it.

What would cause the fuse to blow out every time? Could it be a loose or disconnected ground wire?

No a bad ground won't cause your problem. Go look at the wires to the horns and be sure that one of them is not rubbed through and touching anything metal.

I have this same problem. After having my car for about a year I realized I didn't know what my horn sounded like so I gave it a honk and it popped the fuze.

I have the same problem Joe. It must be a 93 thing, still havent found a solution, tried different amp fuses also, still nothing has fixed it.

The dual horns are up in the front of the passenger side fender, near the coolant reservoir. The horns are wired in parallel, so removing one of them would not increase the electrical load, it would reduce it. I have one removed. There is a relay for the horn, with a diode in it according to the Chilton's wiring diagram... perhaps the relay is shorted.

i'm looking at the horns now. the wires in the fender area are fine. I can't see the wire once it moves up into the engine bay. Is one of my horns fried?

Horns

Horn relay

Horn schematic

Try unplugging your horns and see if the fuse still blows when you try to honk (no, it won't sound with the horns disconnected, but the relay should engage and send power to the horn harness). A fried horn might cause the fuse to blow.
