My first engine build

Hey everyone, I need some advice again. I'm getting ready to start my first lt1 build. I made the decision last weekend, while I was at the junkyard I was able to pull the heads, intake, and water pump from a 95 Fleetwood. The goal is to make a street engine with good performance using iron heads. I'm thinking about a 355 with a nice port job/ cam. I know iron heads don't take high compression as well as aluminum but I still feel like they can make power. It would also be cool to build something different. Let me know what you think, thanks

Nothing wrong with the iron heads. They can be ported if you want. If going with a cam, you should consider having the press in studs pulled and machined for ARP screw in RR studs

I found this book very helpful regarding rebuild.

What are you putting the engine into? The B-Body water pump is not the same as the F-Body.

I forgot to mention I just had the transmission rebuilt by CPT and went with a 2800 stall from protorque... 3.42 Gears at the moment. What would you suggest for a cam?

Bolts to the block but the external connections are not the same.

Re: My first engine build

Why are the corvette and b body so similar? is there a 'bypass' sort of like the throttle body coolant passage?
