Luck getting Discontinued OEM Parts

Luck getting Discontinued OEM Parts
I had a good experience that might be helpful to some. I went to the Chev dealer to pick up a part I ordered over the phone. While I was there, I asked for another part. He looked it up and said it is discontinued. He then without asking checked at other dealerships across the U.S., and printed out a copy for me of who they were with the quantites that they still had along with there phone numbers. I contacted one who was fortunately only about 30 miles from where I live. They said they had the part and away I went. So if you are lucky enough to have a parts person at your dealership that is willing to help you out like I was maybe you can get some of the discontinued OEM manufactured parts you want instead of taking a chance on some of the aftermarket parts that don't really measure up some times.
I did some more investigating. Turns out the dealer needs to subscribe with a company called Oeconnection. They use Their software called D2DLink that locates OEM parts thru a network of dealers. So your dealer needs to be a subscriber for this to work.
This isn't for retailers like us, just for dealers, but here is a web link to that company just for a reference

No it wasn't, but like I stated in the previous post, check to see if your dealer participates with Oeconnection's D2DLink OEM Locating software, and hopefully you will have some luck.

Re: Luck getting Discontinued OEM Parts
same deal for me at my local Chevy dealer. called for a part they didn't have. Guy did a search and gave me contact 411 of dealers in other states that had the part. Has happened several times and sometimes the GMC dealer next door to the Chevy dealer was the one that had the part. I have noticed in some instances that calling the supposed dealership that has the part, they didn't so I had to move down the list until I found one that did or didn't require I buy the whole bag of something when I only needed 1 or 2 of some form of clip or specific fastener (LT4 throttle/cruise control hold down clips for example)
The inter link system they have is great for tracking down what have become rare and hard to find NIB OEM parts for out 20+ year old platforms
and yes the clutch fork is one part that seems to be extinct now. Glad I got mine from www.thegearbox.com a few years ago
