Re: Lt1 350 to 383 stroker
I've run Eagle's stuff before and wouldn't be afraid to run their forged stuff in a somewhat budget friendly engine. A 4340 crank with a good set of H beam rods should work fine once it's balanced without too much pain in the wallet.

Re: Lt1 350 to 383 stroker
I've been pretty happy with my Golen 383. I bought the 400hp long block for $5,500 4 years ago and after 25K miles it's doing great. It's got some cam surge and I usually add 1/4 - 1/2 a quart of oil between changes. I'm making 350 rwhp and 370 rwtq. Oh, and 23 mpg highway!

Re: Lt1 350 to 383 stroker
Eagle has a forged kit for $900 machine shop work is $450 for the block and for another $400 they will put it together. I would say under 2k for a short block if you shop around, I did and that's what I came up with. If you don't have a 4 bolt block then you will have to spend extra for new caps and having the block tapped. 4k is way over priced for a short block sometimes when shops are busy they will give high estimates.

nah $450 is not enough. more like $1k
bore block
deck plate hone
align hone mains
clearance for stroker
deck the block (will depend on if you use -16cc dished pistons, or true flat tops)
hot tank block
optional machine shop:
custom cut piston rings to size
assemble rods to pistons
install cam bearings
install freeze plugs

You won't need a 4-bolt main conversion for a normally aspirated 383 build. Forced induction/nitours - yes.
What are your goals for HP? You don't need a 383 to make 500HP for example.

Seen it on craigslist when I was listening to all the forum jive about 383s and how great they are.... aside that just look on the parts for sale forums here you can get them sooooo cheap used. Resurface them would be a fraction of the cost to new.
