LT-1 to L31 swap.

LT-1 to L31 swap.
So my LT-1 is going to cost way to much for me to rebuild so I got a late model vortec 350 L31 engine with only 40,000 miles on it. Will be doing the lt1 cam and efi setup . Think ill go with the c4 intake instead of the z28 intake since the corvette intake already has the hole for the distributor, an the camaro intake does not.. any clearance issues with the c4 intake like the z28s intake on the vortec heads?

You will need to retain the LT1 PCM for the speedometer, or drive the speedo off something like the Dakota Digital box.
Which trans does your 95 run? The 4L60E requires the 95 PCM to shift it.
Have no idea what clearance issues a C4 intake (L98?) will create. Most people keep the LT1 aluminum heads (changing the coolant passages to match the Gen 1 block) and intake. There used to be someone who converted the LT1 intake for a conventional distributor, not sure if they are still in business.

Re: LT-1 to L31 swap.
I don't need to. The L31 is NOT a gen II engine. I think you are confusing late model Vortech 350 with L31. 2002 was the last year the L31 was utilized. Or do you consider 13 years as late model? The Vortech engine in my Silverado is a Vortech and it is a gen III. Of course its RPO code is LQ4. The L31 is a Gen1E or 'enhanced' but GenII......it is not.

Re: LT-1 to L31 swap.
I visited that site and see the reference to using a GenII engine.....thats was the point I was trying to make with my GenIII Vortech. There ARE GenII Vortechs.....but L31 is NOT one of them. I also did not see any refernce to L31 on that site. The term late model is very subjective. Also are the terms current or old or classic. More usage of actual information such as year is quite beneficial.

Re: LT-1 to L31 swap.
Ill look into it I was told the engine I got was a late model vortec 350 and that it was a gen ll small block. That was all. so when I look up late model vortec 350 online it pulls up the L31 engine. Not sure exactly what motor I have my dad will be building the car for me . Ill ask him and get back with the correct info on the engine.

Re: LT-1 to L31 swap.
The L31 is a gen1 engine. The cylinder heads are known as the Vortec heads. GM also called a lot of different truck engines vortec or possibly vortech.
The TPI Corvette engine is the L98 and it is a gen1 engine. It was used from 85 untill 91 then the LT1 started in 92. The intake on the L98 TPI engine won't fit the Vortec heads or the LT1.
While you may be able to make the L31 work with a lot of modification, in my opinion you should find a usable LT1 to swap or rebuild your current engine. It will be cheaper and a lot less trouble than trying to modify the L31 to work.

Yea I think ill be selling the vortec engine and go with the lt1 again... ill just use the money from the vortec motor to fund the build. I got the engine for free from a buddy anyways...
