low oil light, but oil is full

low oil light, but oil is full
The shop fixed the problem with the start up, they had to shim the starter. I am still having one slight technical difficulty. Occasionaly my low oil light pops on when I start the car and stays on. When I turn off the car and crank it again it goes away. The shop cleaned out the sensor today and it still does it every once in a while. I take it I should just learn to ignor it or should I replace it. Also, the oil is full everytime I check it.

Same thing was happening to me, id get the low oil light but there was plenty of oil, but now my engine is dead because the oil wasnt getting to were it needed to be. Some seal broke.

The Same thing is happening to me.
It started after i came back from a 2-3 day vacation and my car has been sitting for the whole time. Then the light started coming on.
It does the same thing as yours on a cold start it will always come on but once i drive it for awhile and restart it it will go off. I haven't noticed any leaks or anything so i guess its just a bad sensor

Re: low oil light, but oil is full
i have a slight, and i mean SLIGHT leak, and the low oil light is ALWAYS on, im not sure where the oil guage should be reading, but it reads a few PSI above the minimum at a idle, and goes up a little above halfway when i drive or hit the gas. Think i need a new motor? the thing RUNS! and i mean it RUNS!!!! i smoked a 96 cobra in it, and like.. when i say i smoked it, i played with it then walked away from it..... im not sure if there are gears in it or not, but im damn near positive.... when i tap the gas from a stop, it goes and chirps into 2nd, so i wouldnt think there would be an oil problem, do you think it could be something serious like that and still perform like it does?

Re: low oil light, but oil is full
The low oil light is a light that illuminates Low Oil, if it is full of oil I would guess sensor problem or less likely wiring problem. There should be no light on in the cluster while driving. Maybe you need to replace the low oil sensor that screws into the pan, they are known to leak and the new one you purchase is a new design that is less likely to leak.

1994 Camaro Z28 A4, i checked the coolant even added some , then it overflowed im pretty sure it wasnt that, the fans ceased workin so i fixed taht and the light still stays on ( when the fans werent working the car rose in temp but never to red part)

Re: low oil light, but oil is full
My low coolent light has been on for a while (the one in the tach) and my coolent level is fine, temp stays just as it used to. I have heard that the coolent sensor is prone to giving false readings.
