loose wiring?

i was changing the oil in my 94z28 when I noticed a loose connector hanging down on the passenger side under the car.it is near the radiator and has the usual connector on it. a yellow and a black wire. I see the place up about 6 or 7 inches above it I think where it goes. I must have never been connected by the previous owner when they installed the engine. what is it and does it need to be hooked up. car seems to run ok. Thanks for your help..

Re: loose wiring?

The harness connector for the coolant temp sensor is 2-pin, with yellow and black wires. The CLT sensor is mounted in the water pump housing. Is that what you are looking at?

Shoebox had a "clickable" wiring harness.

With that wire disconnected, you should have had an SES light and a DTC code. The engine would probably have run poorly.

Re: loose wiring?

I went ahead and hooked it up to the connection by the radiator... it was for the low coolant level in the system. a warning light came on and it ran kinda rough. the radiator was full but the resoviour was low so I filled it up and let it set about 10 min. the warning light went out when I cranked it. the connector in question had 1 black wire and 1 yellow wire with a black stripe on it.. thanks a lot for yalls help and the diagrams.

Re: loose wiring?

The coolant level sensor would have no effect on the way the engine runs. It's basically just connected to the dash light, via a latching relay.
