Motor installation advice

Im getting close to re installing the engine. What is the easiest way to deal with the wiring? Do I feed it through the engine while installing or just get it bolted in and the feed it through. I removed from the bottom with auto trans attached. Car has short headers. Thank you

Re: Motor installation advice

IMHO, it is easier to connect everything while the engine is out. Lay the computer and the wiring that goes into the passenger compartment on top of the engine as you put the engine back in from the bottom. Then you can route and fish it into the firewall grommet after you get it back in.

Re: Motor installation advice

Can I mount the starter on the engine before installing? Do you have any pics of the wires to be sure I route them correctly? So what your saying is get the motor under the car and put the wires in place while lowering the body in place? Lots of info found about removal, not so much on installation.
Thank you,Tom

Re: Motor installation advice

The complete engine with all accessories can be put in from underneath. That's the way it comes out. ...and the beauty of doing it that way.

Re: Motor installation advice

If I understand you correctly, I will remove the engine harness from the engine bay. I went thru your mega pictures. Do you have any pics on the proper way to feed the wires thru the engine.
Thanks
Tom
I removed engine thru the bottom, I currently have the engine/trans mounted on the cradle awaiting time to install. The harness is still in the car.

Re: Motor installation advice

It would probably help if you added a "Signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans and any major mods. Not all years and variations of the LT1 are identical.

A factory manual is probably the most usefull reference, since it shows the routing of the various components of the harness. I could provide a link to a 94 factory manual for example, but I don't know what year car you have.

Re: Motor installation advice

I removed the harness from the car, much easier to see. I added a signature, hopefully correctly. My main concern is the starter wires. Thank you.
