How MPG does your 383 stroker get?
#2
Not sure if you are aware of this, but the camaro gas gauge is quite funky, when it reads half its actruly more like a quarter, and when its on a quarter its more like an 8th. So it may not be bad milage, just the typical gauge. I tried to find on shoe box's site exactly what the gauge means at certain levels, but I can't seem to find it, looked for like 20 mins to.

This and your other thread aren't exactly "Advanced Tech". You'll probably have better luck getting these questions answered in the "LT1" section anyways.
But yea, the LT1 gas gauge is funky. It stays "full" or near full until almost near the half way point in the tank, the drops quickly for the rest of the tank.
And also, welcome to the world of stroker motors. Your probably not going to be getting decent gas mileage. Not sure what you have, but when my LT1 was cam only with 3.73 gears and untuned i was getting around 10 mpg for awhile.

Oh ok my bad for posting in this thread. Its just that the lt1 forums are too rude and give negative critiscism. If my car is dyno tuned does that count? Or you just mean and old fashion tune up from a local mechanic?

So your car has been dyno tuned? That should help to improve some fuel efficiency, as you should have a stable AFR for normal driving and WOT (granted the shop gave a thorough tune). Do you have any information on the dyno tune the car received? Perhaps a dynograph? When mine was dynotuned, it included the wideband readout which gave my AFR at WOT at least.
New plugs, etc., in a new tune up would help a bit, but you wouldn't see signifcant change in fuel economy just from that. What rear end gears do you have?
Next time you get a chance, fill up a full tank and reset your trip meter and let us know how many miles you get on a full tank.

I no longer have mine on the "highway" but when I did I averaged between 25-30mpg last time I drove it to Ohio and back. However I have a manual converter lockup switch and separate street tuned computer.

^ Alright ill do that next time. Also, should i change my fuel injectors? My gears are 3:73 .Considering my car does have 216k on the odo and 16k on the engine, should i change my fuel injectors? And what do they usually do when the tune my car?
#10
I would not change your injectors, if its tuned for them should be no issues.

Tune up means changing plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, distributer cap, ect.
A tune means hooking a computer to the ECM and modifying the settings to match your modified motors needs.

For the record, I just did a 1600 mile drive with my AFR195 head / Minirammed 385. It's a low-12 car that ETs at 114 MPH. Dyno runs put it in the 400+ RWHP range. I run a T56 transmission and 3.73 gears in a Moser 12-bolt axle. The TPIS Miniram (with AFR heads) is very similar to an LT1 in terms of performance.
I recently drove to Memphis, TN and back for the National Fbody Motorsports Event. On the way south, I averaged 23 MPG. On the way home, I averaged 22 MPG. We made it to Memphis in 14 hours and returned in 12 hours. So there you go. Take it for what it's worth!
