Did 94s have alarms? Perhaps dealer installed or aftermarket? If you mean the VATS system, you can find info on my website.

VATS =

I hate it... always gives me the 'security' light and makes me wait 3 minutes to start my car. I'm disabling every aspect of the system this winter. It makes it harder for me to start my car than it would for a potential car theif.

thank you for the quick reply as always shoebox, i am talking about VATS on a 97 camaro (its my friends) if he would buy a new factory keypad from GM will that take care of his issues? (he lost his factory keypad) if not is there a way around this system? thank you again here is what he did so far...

1. used two different keys then waited 3 minutes for the alarm to turn off but... the security light kept flashing and we were not able to start the vehicle

Sorry, I ended up looking at your sig for the year.

I don't think the fob is going to have anything to do with the security light staying on. The mosts common problem is it not reading the key pellet.

Small problem.... you posted in a thread on the LT1(V8) forum, so not necessarily a lot of V6 owners are going to read this. And these engines have major differences.

To start, at any time has the PCM been scanned for codes?

When you turn the key to "start" does the starter engage and crank the engine? When you do this, is the "SECURITY" light flash? Does it stay on solid?

My starter engages my car cranks over but no spark. No security lights are on.

At any time has the computer been scanned for codes? Have you checked the fuel pressure?

How did you "reset the pcu (PCM) back to factory settings"? Do you mean you pulled the "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds?
