Re: High Flow Cats vs. Stock

"if" your stock CATS are clogged than replacing them will increase exhaust flow....but simply replacing the stock CATS with aftermarket ones will not really yield much if any gain in HP

The stock CATS are not any more restrictive that replacement CATS

Re: High Flow Cats vs. Stock

John Lingenfelter was building and selling an EPA certified 383 LT1 back in the mid-90's, with the stock single cat configuration. At the 400+HP level, he claimed less than 5HP loss. At stock HP levels, it would be significantly less than that.

Depending on whether your state enforces the Federal rules for catalytic converters, you may not be able to replace them unless they are certified to be defective. And if you are in California, you can't use any cat that isn't specifically certified by CARB as a replacement for your stock cats.

Some things are better left alone.
