Headers
Looking for a set of headers for my 1995 Z28. Can anyone recommend the best value?

if you do a SEARCH it will bring up a ton of info for you on any topic usually including headers, not sure if you knew about this feature on the forum.
There are several good systems out there, bang for the buck I'd go with JetHot longtubes, but several others are great as well.

Don't buy anything except longtubes. IMHO if you want headers you have to get longtubes, unless of course you have emissions.

Best value? Jet-Hot Longtubes. Cheapest longtube available for the LT1 that is ceramic coated to my knowledge. Also the lifetime warranty on the coating is nice. Theres always a GP going on for them and I've never seen a particular header sell so well for our cars.

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking for a pair right now but looks like prices are quite high.
Thanks again,

What's the budget?
Something else to keep in mind - there aren't very many out there who've dyno'd with shorties or mid length, then slapped on long tubes, dyno'd again and have the hard #'s to show the difference. GMHTP's bolt-on LT1 shoot out had what? 11 LT1's? The fastest of the day had the tiniest of headers - Edelbrocks. Dr. Mudge put down 412rwhp with heads & cam through SLP's. I remember a looong time ago Injuneer had some comparative dyno #'s showing no real difference between AS&M's and long tubes until the hp #'s got silly (over 600rwhp?). I may not have the facts on his scenario exact, but the point is the mid length headers were not a significant restriction comparatively. Perhaps he'll chime in with the real story if he's got a moment.
I'm not here to bash LT's or those who get them. I'm sure lots have found plenty of bump with them - just don't shut the door and think LT's are the ONLY way to get power. It just aint so.

Looking at no more than $250 - $300.00 for the set. Is there a way to run two pipes all the way to the back with independent mufflers on the Z28 and ileminate the cats altogether?
#9
You're looking to spend $250-300 for the set of headers?? You better start look for used ones. Just the parts alone will cost another $100 or so. That's if you get some nice gaskets, bolts, wires, and plugs. You'll have to look around for a set of headers that are coated for $300. Good luck.

what other mods do you have at the moment?? do you already have a cat back, CAI? For that price you could get some better gears....
#12
I'm going to install the SLP Loudmouth Cat back system with the headers. Right now I'm bone stock...
#13
get a cold air intake IMO, and maybe some subframe connectors or a short shifter which are good mods and will make a better ride..but you will need the intake for sure though. then just save up for a nice set of lontubes that you know are new and are coated. but, if you live in an emmisions strct state like CA, get shorties or some ASM mid length headers...the longtubes move the cat and therefor are illegal
#14
Thanks, I have bids on ebay for a cold air intake / air foil and I'm planning to add the headers and slp soon. How much more HP do you think I'll get from these mod's realisticly?

what about those of us w/ eibach sportline springs. w/ a 2" drop, LT's will drag on everything on the road.
