Going to electric Water pump. ?'s about timing chain cover

Going to a meziere electric water pump and thinking about changing my timing chain gasket because mine is leaking. Do the two overlap or anything. I thought I read something about to change the timing chain cover gasket you have to remove the water pump? I don't know and I haven't really looked at it yet.

One more question I read that you have to wire the electric pump or get a harness from painless wiring. What has to be done with the meziere?

you prolly wanna wire up the WP on its own relay because they tend to kill ignitions due the current draw

Does anyone know of or have a link to a place that sales the painless wiring relay? I got a quote of $39.99. But I heard that some one got one for around $20.

To remove the timing chain cover you will also have to drop the oil pan some and you will also risk ripping the pan gasket too. I don't know anything about the electric pumps as i don't trust them. If you don't get any responses on the waterpump wiring part pm my friend Turbo_z he has an electric pump he wired up with a relay.

Re: Going to electric Water pump. ?'s about timing chain cover

you can get a relay from any auto parts store. just a generic relay is fine. also you'll need a fuse holder to wire inline from the batt. stud to the relay blade 30. 87 will be connected to the power wire on the pump. then connect 86 to ground, and the ground wire on the WP to ground. I used the fuel pump ckt out of the pcm to turn on my relay (that will turn on the WP). conn. that wire to 85. its the dark green wire w/white tracer in pin 7 in the RED conn. I believe of the pcm. that will turn on the pump only when the engine is running. not just when the key is on. if you want to, you can run a manual switch from power to turn on the relay also. no need for a heavy gauge wire, just a 18 ga. wire is all you need since turnin on the relay is very low draw. I used the power goin to my lighter outlet, into the switch, then conn.d that wire to the blade 85 with the green/white wire. that way at the track you can turn on the coolant pump along with the fans while waiting between runs to cool the eng. real quick.
