What sort of gains can be seen by using 1.7 rockers ONLY on the exhaust side and 1.6 rockers on the intake side with, say, a 224/230 or 227/233?

probably very little by the nature of a cams design, the exhaust lift is already higher. A local race engine builder Gary w/Gary Watson Racing explained to me the advantages of running smaller RRs on the exhaust side, in a nutshell from his technical explanation the exhaust side doesn't need the extra valvetrain stress. I mean maybe you could run 1.7 intake and 1.6 exhaust, shrugs...I run 1.7RRs with AFR heads and love it but the many stroker setups out there run a 1.6/1.5 RR setup just because the exhaust doesn't need so much lift.
