Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

Any reccomandations on brands of fuel injectors? I have a 96 Z28 6 speed. Have been getting a surge (felt like a miss) but no codes for last month , today i popped a P0307 so im gonna change everything. (also going to change my clutch flywheel pressureplate and throwout bearing [ and rearmain and every other seal behind the motor]) never done these before... kinda weary about doing them on the ground (have a friend say he did his on the ground without a lift) Any help will be nice... sorry if this is a poorly designed post never posted before...

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

To determine if it's an injector, swap #7 injector with one of the others, and see if the code follows #7 to the new cylinder. A lot cheaper, and more logical than randomly replacing parts and hoping you change the right part.

What do the clutch, flyweel, rear main seal, etc. have to do with a misfire, or was this some work you already had planned?

When you're in the process of replacing the clutch parts, have a machine shop balance the new pressure plate and flywheel. Highly recommended to avoid vibration.

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

Why do you think you need 30lb injectors?

300-360hp at the crank and up to 6k on rpms the 24's will be fine.

30's will need to be calibrated to meter..

Most flywheels/flex plates are "close" but its great advice to double check and make sure its right before installing so you are not pulling it all back out cause it is not..

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

Thanks for the advice about the pressure plate/ flywheel. ill stick with the 24's. i put new sparkplugs in today( Fat preacher who owned the car before me has autolite wires and oem plugs which were loose) made an insane improvement but after driving about 30 mins(warm up) i threw a code and can feel a miss... if its a random miss where should i start? (hoping to god its not my opti)

Scan it to find out what set the code. Misfires will usually cause the SES light to flash. Is it flashing or on steady?

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

Well after driving it for a few days SES light hasn't come on but i can feel a miss, it turned off by it self... only comes on when i have A/c on, (under heavy load) i would take that as the wires are bad (autolite anyways) Garbage --- Only cyl 7 miss... Oh and my clutch is chattering and slipping so bad now im gonna have to park it... or pay someone to put it in My job wont let me use the lift for under 500 and i have someone offering to do it for 350 that i trust ... so im probably going to do that... ---- So Angry ----- Still love my car tho

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

If the SES light was on, the code that turned it on is stored in the PCM. Scan it.

Did he say ses came on? Me confused on whether it did or not..

Yes.

Have you considered the possibilty of a plugged or leaking injector?

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

Ok cause post #10 he says it isn't but ill agree codes have not been checked ..

If everything points to #7 misfire and since its fairly easy to get to unlike 8 I would pull plug check for for lack of fuel or opposite and I have had the porcelain crack on me

Re: Fuel injectors /plugs/ wires

ok, so i have changed all my plugs, initially i had a p0300 and yes the ses light was on, Then after driving it with my A/c off for a day the SES light turned off by it self, and didn't come back on for a few days then it came back on with P0300 again... Occasionally it Throws a P0307 .. Only misses noticeably when i have A/c on ---
