First runs with Scorpion 1.7rr's

The track was complete **** last night, but I still got a new best. Right now my only mods are a cutout and 1.7rr's. My best time was.

60' 2.24
1/8 9.0
mph 81.5
1/4 13.85
mph 103.6

DA was about 2700

I think when I get the rev limiter bumped up, some slicks and better weather that it may be possible to go 106mph and run low 13's. Headers will be put on soon after that!

Don't be surprised if the slicks improve your ET but slightly hurt your MPH.

Good runs though, from your 60 foot you have alot of ET to gain with a good launch.

So your only mods are a cutout and 1.7rr's and your hitting 103mph? Wow. Good times.

Sometimes I don't get it. I trap at 102 with my mods.

Good times non the less. Add headers and let her breath.

Thanks. My ultimate goal is to trap 110-112 with boltons.

No way in hell are slicks going to break my rearend. I have a stock clutch with stock gears. The clutch is already on its last leg. The stock rear should handle a 1.7 even with a decent clutch. I will most likely borrow the et streets from a buddy this time.

LOL
Famous last words.
10 bolts can break at any power level, any clutch, any tire, anytime and most of the time especially with 6speeds.

Were it an auto I'd disagree, but I have seen too many stock six speed cars eat rears to disagree.

Well, what were your previous times and what mods were done then?

If it's the times in your sig, then you gained about 4 mph and 0.4 with a cutout and 1.7 RR's? Is that right? Nice gains.

BTW, my 1/8 trap and ET are identical to yours, but I ended up at 13.8@102, so your top end is strong right now. The 1.7 RR's are the key there, more breathing in the upper RPM's. My weather also REALLY sucked that day. Looking forward to times of mid 13's @ 104 with better weather.

Also, How noisy are those scorpion 1.7 RRs?

Dan

I always heard that busted rears came from hard launches. Don't A4's launch harder than M6's?

Yes and no. They can get off the line faster than an M6, but the way the power is applied is softer on the rear with the A4. When you stall up the motor with the A4, it basically pre-loads the driveline up, while with an M6 you get the shock factor of a free wheeling motor to locked clutch.

They do tend to launch hard off the line with a torque convertor, however are easier on the rear since they preload the rear when you are launching off the brake with the foot on the gas. A manual on the other hand, shocks the rear as soon as the clutch grabs, which is what causes the rear to break.

Re: First runs with Scorpion 1.7rr's

Im sort of dissapointed w/ the results. But your times show either a bad ability to launch at the track, slow shifting, or something wrong w/ your car to start. 14.2 at 99 is slow. Especially in arizona. BUT. 1/2 a second is good if you have changed nothing else. thats a pretty good gain.
