Dumb Question/Dumber Idea???

Ok, so I pulled my intake manifold a couple of nights ago. The motor has about <30 miles on it. The intake gaskest look FINE. Would it be idiotic of me to reuse them, especially considering I'm throwing a set of stock lifters in it for testing purposes only???

I would. Just use a little sealant or something to be on the safe side. And make sure everything is as clean as you can get it (probably is already)...

Ask yourself how hard was it to take off? Then think about taking it off 2 weeks from now to do the same thing. theres a chance they will hold but a better chance they will fail. I would change them.

Is this for temporary purposes???? Are you going to remove the intake again????? For a very short time, it should be OK... But then again, who knows....

I already have plans to rip it right back off. If the lifters work, the my Comp R's are going back to Comp for warranty, and I'll put the new set right in. If the lifters don't do the trick, then the Comp R's are going back in.

The manifold is a piece of cake to get off the car. I don't know why so many people seem to find it such a daunting task. It's some electrical connections, some vaccuum hoses, and some bolts.

As for my gaskets, I'm reusing them. I noticed a little layer tearing at the bottom of some of the runners, but it's just a little separation.

On an even dumber note, I don't have a TQ wrench, so I'm going to be playing it by feel for this testing phase. I WILL have one by the time the final lifters go in it.

Can anyone tell I A: Have a lot of time on my hands and B: Like to work on my car??

Wish me luck, I'm hopefully starting it again tomorrow.

LMAO, at this point I don't think luck has anything to do with it.

Re: Dumb Question/Dumber Idea???

why don't you spring for a torque wrench if you are going to be putting it back together for real in a couple weeks?
