Doing serious mods over winter, have a few questions
Well, i dont know how serious they are. I am planning on going with the loyd elliot heads and cam package, along with headers and a tune.(CAI and catback already done)
My question is this. My motor currently has 115,000 miles on it. Doesn't use any oil that i can tell, it does have the infamous intake leak though, i will be fixing that along with the heads.
Shoudl i be worried about modding an engine with that many miles on it. It seems to be in very good shape.
If you think i should buy a short block, where should i look, locally? or are there some online places people reccomend.
Just looking for some advice on reaching my mid 12 second car goals.
oh yeah, i could possibly be close to 400 at the wheels with the correct tune right?

depending on what level head port job, and what cam you use, yes you could hit 400rwhp with a decent tune
i wouldnt worry about doing those mods to your engine, LT1s last for quite a bit of milage. if you do decide to go with a lower milage shortblock though, a buddy of mine has one sitting in my garage that we just pulled out of his car. it is a 96 shortblock that was in perfect running condition, just pulled it to put a built 355 in. not sure of milage or price, but you could contact him at L9T8Z@aol.com. we are about 1.5 hours from most parts of chicago
