Delete AIR, Leave EGR In Place - Emissions Question
I've done some research so just looking for confirmation that my thinking is correct... I have a 95 Z28 so OBD1.
I believe I can safely remove the AIR pump/tubes and cap the headers and air intake without any issue and without reprogramming the PCM.
Barring a visual inspection which they don't do in NJ in my experience I should be OK to continue passing emissions with the EGR still in place, correct? Any downside to doing this? My understanding is the AIR pump only turns on when the car is started and once warmed up turns off.
Thanks ahead of time for any feedback!

Everything you have stated is correct. Just make sure you have a good fuse in the AIR pump circuit. That's the only thing that gets checked by OBD-1 PCM. Make sure you keep the engine running waiting in line. You want the cat to stay warm, so it works. The AIR pump helps it warm up on startup.

if you have tail pipe test for emissions, good idea to change oil before test
As Fred notes, just leave car running when you get to smog shop. Good idea to drive on the Fwy about 20 min before also. You want the CATS good & hot

We are wanting to do the same for our 92 z28 we are restoring. What did you use to plug the holes where the hoses went into the heads? Trying to find a kit and a step by step tutorial somewhere. Thanks
