Coolant on water pump valley near the bolt?

I usually don't inspect my car but I open the hood and found a little bit of coolant sittin on the right upper bolt of the water pump. Either the water pump gasket is shot even though its only a 1 1/2 old or the upper coolant hose is loose. Didn't have time to take the intake elbow off yet to check the hose. Hose is new.Maybe that why the car runs a little bit hotter. Water pump bolt looks tight so can't be that.

If the hose is new, it might be something as simple as the hose clamp being a little loose.

You can't tell if a bolt is tight by looking at it.

Hook up a pressure tester and look for a leak. AZ lends them out.

I had a strange problem like this with my waterpump when I installed it I used RTV and thread sealent on all the bolts/gaskets...but I didnt torque the waterpump bolts, just made them tight. Later on I started to get leaks from a couple of the bolts, one of them being hte same one you are describing. I went back w/ a torque wrench and torqued them which took a couple more turns. They pretty much stopped after that. I suggest you try tightening it some. The waterpump bolts will leak, I distinctly remember coolant rushing out of mine when I removed the orignal waterpump.

Always keep a torque wrench handy and use the proper torque specs.

It was the hose clamp

Thanks guys. I let the car run and the first 3 min I saw coolant dripping from the coolant hose clamp over the water pump on the drivers side.
