code 43

95 TA A4. Just put engine back in and it fired right up. Idle is a little rough. Anyway, the engine light is on so I plugged my scanner in. It is not showing a current code but the history code is code 43. Its saying electronic spark control failure. Shbox says knock sensor. It is brand new but I guess could be bad.

I cleared the code but it pops right back up. Fans running. still doesn't show it being a current code. Its under history codes. When I clear the code while running, idle jumps up then slowly drops back down.

What's going on here? Is the sensor junk? It is from Ebay.

Re: code 43

Did you get the correct 93-95 knock sensor?

With single wire off the sensor, key on, you should measure 5V between the end of the harness wire and the block. Wire still off sensor, measure sensor resistance between single pin on sensor and block. Look cor 4,000 ohms +/-500.

I thought Shoebox had how to test it on his website.
