If your thermostat has a small hole in the valve that will let air through there is no need to run the engine to bleed with an electric waterpump.
Just fill from the tank on the passenger inner fender, run the pump once you feel it is "wet" up that high. I got a bleeder that accepts a hose somewhere so I can catch the fluid let out of the bleeder on the thermostat housing, otherwise paper towels are your friend if you just have the stock screw. I usually keep the bottle filled to the seam cold.
