Re: AKM cables out of business?
Andrew K. Mattie I believe. Pretty sure he gave up a few years ago, confirmed on his website at the time. He sold the design of his cables to somebody..... maybe ALDL. Cables, can't remember.
Support for the LT1 is disappearing. TTS Power Systems has discontinued support for DataMaster. Ken at carputing.com will no longer offers LT1_Edit once his supply of cables runs out, just support for existing owners. Rob/Shoebox is selling his LT1. I'll probably be selling mine in the spring. And as far as offering LT1 help, I'm getting to the age where I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to do this. I was older than most people here when I bought my Formula brand new in 1994.

Maybe AKM sold his cable design to Tunercat... they mention his cables in the cable page description.

For those of you who already own a serial RS232 version of the AKM cables we also offer an upgrade to USB. The upgrade kit includes the ALDL to USB converter and the USB cable (you use your original ALDL cable). This upgrade kit costs $59.95

{arising from the dead}
Yes, I shut down my business back in... 2012? Something like that. I was focusing in my M.S. degree at the time, and saw the business slowing down a lot. Was going to need a significant investment (in cable components) to keep it going, and I decided to get out. I sold my stuff to Tunercat and he kept it going.
I missed my domain renewal (whoops) and lost my domain in 2013 or so. Dangit.
But I'm still alive, and now working on a PhD in EE. Still have my '94Z, and 2 large bins full of RS232-ALDL cables (lol). I never threw any away, nor did I go through with my plan to sell them on ebay. Still have a half-dozen LT1Edit for OBDII (96-97) cables on my shelf as well.
