About to buy 93 , is there a guide to conver it to 94+ ecm/transmission/etc... ?
it may seem crazy but I have a just totaled 95 4thgen, with nearly new 4L60E transmission, new optispark, new maf etc...
I am about to buy a 93 fbody and I am curious what it would take to swap my transmission over + whatever else is needed IF I had to... I'm thinking to make 4L60E work I need my 95 ECM which means MAF + throttle body + ... ???
would I have to swap wiring harnesses over? gauges?
I would only do this down the road once the 93 had a major issue like a dying engine or blown trans (and I'd keep my 95 stuff sitting/waiting for that).

You pretty much have the basic idea. Just take everything from the 95 and shove it into the 93. There will be slight differences but it should be pretty straight forward.

so for sake of argument, if we had to make a list of what to save... please add anything I'm not thinking of.
throttle body
engine harness
transmission/mount/trans related stuff/driveshaft...
MAF + intake piping
possible:
dash harness? what about the ALDL connector? 93 doesn't have it right?

93 has a 12-pin ALDL connector. Your 95 PCM can be wired to it. See Shoebox's guide to the ALDL connector wiring for various years:

The 95 engine harness will no match up exactly with the 93 body harness. You will have to take Shoebox's summary of various body connectors for various years, identify the differences and change the pinouts accordingly.
See this chart.... note that each body connector is a separate tab at the bottom of the page.
http://shbox.com/1/harness_connector_faces.htm
The 93 tach is driven off the coil, through a filter. You could keep that arrangement, because the 95 drives the tach off the PCM, and that would take some rewiring. Also check the speedometer. The 93 connects the VSS directly to the speedo, and also to the ECM. The 95 connects only to the PCM, which drives the speedo. Not sure if the pulses per mile are the same.

Why would you go thru all the trouble of swapping this stuff out? Is the trans and opti bad in the 93? I understand the 4l60e is almost new but if its a running driving 93 i wouldnt change a thing

its ezer to tune and data log. the 93 has a eprom chip for memory. the 94 up dosent it has internal memory. with the eprom u have to have a chip burner or mail the chip off for tuning. not to metion the 93 ecm has different connectors then the 94 and its getting harder to find, and pricy
