96 z28 lt1 after header installation

ok I'm new here so bare with me i have a 96 z28 that I've owned for a year now and haven't done any upgrades to it since i got it just regular maintenance. So I'm wanting to put longtube headers on it and delete the cats, egr, and AIR and I'm wanting to know is what is a good programmer to get rid of the cel light and will let the engine run right. I'm not planning on modding it any further than this i have heard of the mail order tunes but dont think thats what I want to do unless it is necessary.
Thanks!

Not familiar with any hand-helds for the LT1. The JET Dynamic Spectrum Tuner (DST) might do it, but it's expensive. A mail order tune, particularly one that's just eliminating codes and tweaking the stock tune for the typical extra 10-15HP is going to cost less.

JET Performance 14005, JET Performance Dynamic Spectrum Tuner

You will gain very little by eliminating the cats, EGR and AIR. The dual cats on the OBD-2 cars are fairly efficient. EGR does not operate at idle, above 3,500RPM or at wide open throttle, the electric AIR pump only runs for a couple minutes at startup to heat the cats, then shuts down - no effect on performance.
