Removed coolant "restrictor" part, blew head gasket.
So this past week I was fixing the no heat issue with the camaro. Making sure it was bled and full of antifreeze and I still had no heat. So I cut out that three inch restrictor section on the hose off of the wp. Still no heat, so I flushed the heater core. Bled the system once and ran the car. Had a temp spike and I let it cool, then topped off system, bled again and the car was perfect. Heat was blowing nice and hot, just as it should. I parked the car and then went to use it 24hrs later. She started smoking (steam) out the exhaust a lot.
I'm wondering if the head gasket was about to fail and I helped it by letting the temp spike or if this is due to removing that restrictor section of hose that flows to the heater core. I'm thinking that it happened because of the temp spike.
Started tearing into it today. Ugh. Pain in the ***.

Got everything removed today. Found a couple holes on the drivers side that are plugged up, pass side about four of the same line of holes are also half plugged up with crud. I haven't looked at the head yet to see if these are passageways or not.

Looking at the pictures of my stock heads, there is a passage in the heads that is the full length/width of the slot in the gasket.
