Re: 94 Z28 mystery problem! HELP!!

Fred, I got the new MSD opti in and started it and it fired right to life and sounded awesome! It jumped to 1500 rpm and sat steady for the 30 seconds it ran, except for one good rev to about 3k, then I shut it down. Is that normal or is something off? I didn't have MAF or temp hooked up ( no wtr pump yet).

The high RPM is the result of the coolant temp sensor not being installed. Just plug the sensor back into the harness, and that will avoid a trouble code. The PCM elevates the RPM on cold start, but max is about 1,200 RPM, and that's down around 0*F. But a non-connected CTS will tell the PCM the coolant temp is -40*F.
