ok so my vats has locked me out of my car was starting fine running fine took my key to chevy dealership they said my key was bad. so i paid 28 bucks got new one put it in vats still locking me out. im no good on cutting wires & so on to do a vats bypass idk what to do >>> i seen this you plug in & it bypasses it will it work. guys need all info can get my car down

If you know code 3 is the right one and you also know that this is really what your problem is, then it would work (but just as well as a less than a dollar resistor from Radio Shack). You don't have to cut wires to try a resistor.

yea its code 3 they ran my vin to get it my other key was dead couldn't even get it to come up on multimeter to test to get a vats code. its gotta be the key the car was running fine i cranked it pull it up on ramps changed my oil put key back in it was dead security light flashing. & i put new key in nothing the security just statys on car hear fule pump come on but nothing.

So the new key from the dealer, started your car so you could get it on the ramps, to change your oil. Then wouldn't start your car afterwards?

If that is the scenario, I doubt it's the new keys fault. I would hope the new resister in that key, wouldn't go bad, that fast.

no my old key was the one was in it when i drove it up the ramps to do my oil. then i went to start it nothing took my old key to chevy dealership said my old key was dead pretty much. so today i bought a new key went to start it nothing just security light stays on. can hear fuel pump kick on all lights come on but nothing when i turn the key.

got another ? my old key was dead no way to match it as ive seen people do with a multimeter. but mine wouldn't read at all guy at chvey dealership said can match it with my vin? can he do that get right code to my car even though couldn't get a reading from my older key im just trying go over everything.

Got a new key from where?

They might be able to get it from the VIN, but they should also have a tool called an "interrogator" that they (or a locksmith with it) can get it from the car. Of course, they would need the car there to do it.

just super weird to me car started fine i pulled it up on ramps did my oil put key in nothing but the security light flashing. next day took to chevy dealership got new key put it in nothing but security light stays on not flashing. i just find it super hard that its something big car ran fine i could tell key was going out had car few months has the security pop on few times so im taking key was going bad.

I think this is probably the first time I have ever heard of a key going bad. The thing is, if that was the problem, then getting a new key should have fixed it. I would have done more testing to determine just what the problem is. The key cylinder is the most common problem. If so, your bypass module should fix it (if it is the right value).

yea it may take 20 years but they do die after time the two silver bars just wear out & stop making contact is from what i was told. i mean key want read at all at dealership so i went bought multimeter tested it myself nothing would show up on the old key so i tested new key it came right up. i did other simple test as pop battery cables off wait 15mins & few others i just find it hard to believe something went out it could have but my system has me locked out so im prying bypass works.

it will be here fri hoping for thur just praying it works like killing me seeing car just sit there one big ? i asked could they look up my key threw my vin if they couldn't get a reading off old key as most do when replacing the key i say cause what if they gave me wrong key code ? next step wait i guess with bypass & go from there.

good new & very bad news good new part came bad its still not working im lost at this point when i put key in nothing the security light stays on can here pump cut on but nothing. i have no idea what to but at this point i dont have money to take it to shop ive went over most thing no idea.

Perhaps the module is the wrong value or there is trouble elsewhere. Take a resistance reading of the bypass module and then take a resistance reading at the TDM connector back toward the bypass module.

that's what i bought im feeling that as well a code or something is not reading right i went to dealership the say calls for code 3 key so i by code 3 bypass. do test it with a multimeter ? what setting do i put it on 20k? & so you saying test the bypass i just got in the mail ? & witch other part do i test the orange cord that plugs into system or the other end sorry no good with the right names of the cords.
