To reiterate the above posts, it'll run well but not to it's full potential. You may also get worse gas mileage which could negate any savings you got from paying 20 cents less per gallon. I ALWAYS run 93 in my car because that's what we have here in Illinois and I don't want to take any chances with this motor. I also have the knock sensor disabled as well, but at any throttle opening in any gear I get 0 knock. I'll gladly pay an extra three dollars a tank for peace of mind. It would be very interesting to see what kind of knock retard you are getting with 87. Just my .02.
