Dude thats some serious crap. Take it to the machine shop. No one here will dare answer that and I wouldn't believe um if they did. What I did...if fact I get my motor back tomorrow, is let the machinist to the block work...(clearance..balance...deck..align hone.) When they balance it and clearance the block they will spec all that. Get it back from them and assemble it yourself.

I can tell you that the piston wont stick out with that combo:
strock = 3.48/2 = 1.74
Rod = 6
compression hight = 1.26
1.74 + 6 + 1.26 = 9
Theoretical deck hight is 9.025".
You can mill the block top to get a quench hight of 0.045".

I was pretty sure all the measurements worked out. I was more of looking for coments of the parts being used. Like "thats not gunna be as strong as blah blah" or "legend cranks suck" or those rings suck" or Hopefully, "sounds like an awsome set up man!"

I am in need of a rebuild and im having to take out a loan to do this. I have been going back and forth betweet all forged and 383s etc... My two housemates have 396ci solid rollers and are trying to get me to do at least a 383. But considering i dont really have the $$ to do this, i better keep it under control and to a small amount. But not so small that its pointless ya know?

And I have an engine builder that great, 30 years of experience and he know his stuff. only think is what come with 30 years of experience he is very very old school. I went out the yesturday and he was going of on one of his tangets about i would have to putt a chevy 400 crank and bore out all the mains, do this and that. Not much 2 gen and 3rd gen sbc experience and also he does know about all this new stuff that they make to ease the modifing our 327 blocks

But as long as this set up seems ok, i will take it out to him and let him take a look.

lt1 block, main journals are 2.5(2.499) right
Althought i thought this wasn't that advanced, should i posted it there anyway?

You got that part right. Mine turned into a snowball. I blew my motor and went with the 383 thinking it'll just be a little more. I was way wrong! WAY MORE. It's all the little things that kill ya. Bigger injectors...250, bigger tb 390, the extra machining, gotta beef up the tranny. Gotta do the heads to make the 383 flow and use the power (port and polished myself 49 hours). You'll be amazed about how they add up. If this motor (going in tomorrow) don't put out, I'm gonna wish I stayed with the 355.
