1995 Formula Starting Problem

My 1995 Pontiac Formula will start fine when it's cold and run fine but when it gets warm i have to hold the key over and give it gas when I try to restart it. When it is warm I can rev it a couple times and it will idle and drive normal. Any Help Would Be Great Thanks In Advance.

Re: 1995 Formula Starting Problem

Could be leaking injectors. When you know the engine is hot, and expect a problem, put the accel pedal on the floor BEFORE you turn the key to start, and hold it there while you try to start the engine. That puts the PCM in "clear flood" mode, cutting back on the fuel it injects while cranking. If it starts faster when you do that, you may have found the problem.

At that point you would attach a fuel pressure gauge, turn to the key to "run" to allow the pump to prime for 2 seconds and shut off. Pressure should be at least 40psi when the pump shuts off. Watch how fast the pressure drops after that. Rapid loss of pressure could indicate leaking injector(s), leaking fuel pressure regulator, or a leaking check valve in the fuel pump.
