No Hp gain unless it were real bad i suppose, but you are right there, I did mine at 140,000 miles when I did the MSD install. It was not real loose but it was loose. I've read that no one hears of the stock unit "failing" but they do stretch and wear. It's about $100.00 and like I said, you are right there.
But, I believe removing the timing cover may disturb the oil pan gasket... Mine seams to have developed a small leak at the front of it, have not had a chance to really look at it or talk to my mechanic about it.

so did my installation last weekend, fired right up (how good am i, lol), she is back on the road disturbing the peace. thank you guys for your help. i guess i have experience now of removing optis out of lt1.

Please don't delete a thread just because you solved the problem. The thread provides a valuable reference to others experiencing the same problem, and correctly using the "search" to help with their similar problem. That's what this site is all about - helping each other.
