To those that have LM or DM exhaust
Went to get an estimate on installing a DM or other similar free flowing strait through exhaust and the muffler shop said will make more power at WOT but it will "fall on its face" when daily driving and reccommended not doing it.
Just wondered if any of you have noticed any lack of HP or TQ when daily driving.
Thanks.

Thanks guys. I thought that would be the consensus. The exhaust is going on an LS1, so I'm going to tell the shop to do what I want.
I'm going a little different route. I'm going to install a Magnaflow race muffler (5x8 oval or 6 in round case with 3.5 or 4 inch in/out) either in the stock muffler location with a single mandrel bent tailpipe out the drivers side or put the muffler under the passenger side just past the axle with a single pipe out that side. Tail pipe will be either 3.5 or 4 in but not sticking strait out the back. It will be closer to the uderside of the car have a turndown cut flush with the bottom of the bumper. Heard an SS with this type of setup (but with a Flowmaster big block muffler) an I liked it. Figured he Magnaflow would give it a deeper tone.
Will let you guys know how it turns out if interested.

Trust me the muffler shop is BSing you... To tell you the truth, with any other engine like LT1 or even older small block chevs, that made a lot of low end torque, would lose low end.. But since the LS1 does not have much low end, you will not even notice a loss in the low end.. I went from stock muffler including tips and went with a Dynomouth and yes it cost me $ 95 for install including materials to make the custom Y-pipe out back (I wanted to keep the dual exhaust look).. plus $ 107 for the 18" Dynomax Bullet Race Muffler and 2 Edelbrock chrome tips from Jegs.. Ofcourse I could have saved money by having the race muffler put out back w/ 1 exit but I wanted to keep a somewhat stock look.. I would love to hear how your exhaust is going to turn out... Trust me I love the sound of my Dynomouth.. I am just interested in hearing how other Race mufflers sound as well...

I'll let ya know how it sounds.
After doing more research, I found that the system I saw on the SS was a Mufflex with a Flowmaster. Found a picture on their website that I'm going to take to the shop so they know what to do.
Thanks for all the replies.
