t-56 problems help

hey, i have a 99 TA WS6 M6. I got her out today and my dad was driving and missed the 3-4 shift and put her in 2nd. Then later tonight i was driving i've had this problem before rarely in 3rd, but it grinds when i try to put it into gear sometimes. It goes into gear fine, but once i start to left the clutch out it grinds and kicks it out. When i help it really tight i can sometimes get it to stay in 2nd, but once i go to shift to 3rd its hard to puch it out of 2nd.

Anyone have this before or know whats wrong??? Need help ASAP thanks

yep, stock hurst. Going to order the 5.0 or ripper sometime next month.

I've done searches from here to ls1tech, and i would ls1.com if it was up. Havent found much. Pretty much anything from the clutch to synchros to the gears.

I know there some tranny experts around here somewhere come share the wealth

I have bad news for you.
I had the same thing happening. When I put into third at low rpms with normal driving from time to time it would grind and kick out. It only happened once in a while for like a year. Then one day coming home from a nice trip I nailed it. First, then into second. 2 seconds after sticking it into 2nd gear all hell broke loose. The tranny just grinded like hell. The car wouldn't move without grinding. After giving my car to the dealer for warranty work they told me that third gear fell out taking with it 4th, 5th and 6th gear syncros. Practically they had to rebuild my whole tranny. You might have something else but that's what happend to me.

sounds exactly the same for the whole 3rd gear deal. Might be something similar, but 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th are still solid and 3rd still can be driven on fairly well. Its just 2nd that is pretty much useless right now.

I just ordered my synchros today because, yes Third, decided to give out as well. After a while 4rth started and then my 2nd and so on... Look at www.ddperformance.com, the T56 synchro kit is $229 and came out to $240 w/ taxes. But now i have another problem, at a low rpm something seems to slip, my RPM's will go up then down. I just replaced my clutch and i am hoping that when I fix synchro's will fix the problem.

Here's the T-56 service manual if you want to tackle the job yourself.

http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English...-0610-0199.pdf

Direct from Transmission Technologies Corp. (the people who bought out Tremec).

Do i need a bearing kit also, or should i replace it (71k on car)?? If i dont really need it i'm just going to leave it out to save some money.
