is the slp lid worth it?

is the slp lid worth it?
as i stated above, is it worth it? i was previously going to get a volant intake, but after doing more research on pod filters, it seems like they dont do much except let lots of crap into your engine. so it seems like an slp lid would be the best option. but im still not sure if it really makes a difference. anybody thats upgraded, please feel free to chime in (and dont leave out any possible disadvantages) thanks

Did it and have no negatives I can think of. Have seen a few that seemed to slightly rub on hood but just barely. Didn't cause issue in hood just put rub spot on intake. I noticed a little bit better response of throttle off idle. Looks better and sounds better. Do notice increase in intake noise which was fine with me. You will be happy with the lid.

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
sorry guys, i was actually tired out of my mind when i posted the initial question, so its not worded too well, and only asks half of what i wanted to know. the other half is whether or not theres something better out there. i was looking at the volant intake system for a while, but ive read too many bad things about pod filters (aka, less power than stock, and they let a ton of crap in your engine).

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
if you're spending the money on the slp lid, imho, it's worth the extra $$ to buy the slp bellows as well man. The less violent the air moving into the throttle body flows creates more of a stable airflow which in turn creates better throttle response.

I agree with below but i would take it a step further and instead of buying the SLP belows, go to Lowe's and buy a Fernco Ruber plumbing hose. It works just as good as the bellows and costs about 6 bucks. Good luck.

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
does that little 2 inch tube really make a difference? i have an ls1, so i dont have the huge elbow of the lt1. but hey, i have no problem swapping it.

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
so im creeping ebay for a lid, and they seem to either be $90 or $145. it seems to be worth it even if its $145, but id rather pay $90, because you know...im cheap and all. can you guys take a look at this listing and see if theres anything fishy there? thanks

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
I also have an LS1 and it does make a difference. Throttle response is much snappier over he stock rigid bellows. Haven't had it on a dyno, so not sure of hp or torque gains though.

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
i couldnt get my slp bellows to fit so i sold it for a loss! lids are pretty much the same ,(flip over) no plastic ridges / baffles for a smooth air flow. i like mine. cheers!

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
it arrived yesterday, and finally had time to install it today. getting the MAF on the lid was a pain, but in the end completely worth it. it doesnt seem to do much better than stock under 3k rpm as far as power is concerned, but above that there seems to be a marked improvement. also, the improvement in throttle response is surprising. makes it much easier to match revs quickly for downshifts (great for me, as i tend to approach corners cruising in 6th, then downshift to 2nd about halfway through braking). overall, it makes the car much easier to drive hard. worth every penny and then some. thanks for convincing me to buy it

Re: is the slp lid worth it?
The lid is a waste without some sort of high flow filter. You may see some gains but they will be minimal. Just get a K&N and you won't have to spend any more money on filters. Why didn't you get a high flow filter? You like less air flow and didn't actually want more power?
