PCV Valve change on 98 Z

PCV Valve change on 98 Z
How do I change the PCV valve on 98 Z28? Is it hard?
Also, I just read that the 98s came with a bad valve, which may let oil into the air/fuel mixture hurting power! Is this true?
Thanks

It's sitting on top of the passenger side valve cover, and it's encased in a bunch of foam and tape. Just remove all the foam and tape and you'll find it. It just unplugs out of the tubes.
Yes, the PCV valve lets a lot of oil into our intakes. The revised valve is actually just a fitting with a smaller hole in the end of it instead of a moving valve inside. I've upgraded to the new valve and I'm still getting lots of oil into my intake. It seems the only way to solve this problem is to intall a catch can before the intake.
Once www.ls1.com comes back up, do a search and you'll find out all you need to know.

I finally dealt with my PCV last week and found how they've installed the valve inside the rubber "inline boot". I had to blob the assembly together with silly-cone because the heat and oil in the line had eaten up the boot. Be careful/prepared when you try to remove the valve from the line if you've got any kind of mileage on the car. I'm at 76k.
I took out the valve and soaked it in Simple Green and blew it out with an air hose several times. It came out clean as a whistle and operated freely like new-----that's all ya need it to do! As far as the oil getting into the intake...THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN. It's a PCV valve for granny's sake!! The real issue with these cars inhaling oil is the fact that by design the PCV line is TOO "horizontal" and as the line comes out of the valve cover against the driver's side fire wall....it takes a downward sloping route to the throttle body. Not the best. But, man, how much "power" could be lost from the amount of oil vapor involved here? Not enough to even worry about unless you're gamblin' away Mama's bail funds!!!!LOL
