Is This Normal?
My 99 Z28 is doing something strange but I'm not sure if it is normal sicne I just got it. Every now and then when I start the car, after a couple second the speedometer and tachometer will spike and both will go all the way to max (150 mph and 7000 rpm). Then they return to the zero position and after a second or two and tach will come back up to the normal idling rpm. Also when this happens, the trip meter resets itself which sucks since I'm trying to get an accurate mpg reading for this thing.
So...is this normal?
So...is this normal?

Not to be a @$$ but I strongly think the other guy is wrong. I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago and the dealer ended up charging me $100 to tighten the battery terminals and they aslo put 40 miles on the car. Check the battery terminals and if its not that its something else electrical, probably your alternator. Either way its not normal.

I dont think its the battery because the radio should go to 'LOC' mode if power is taken away from it. And it never has. Where can I find the connections the connect to the gauges so I can check them? I dont wanna take anything apart. I'm comprehending taking it to the dealership because it also needs new rotors. It is under an extended warantee. Does a warantee cover a problem like this? Thanks
