ls1 probs please help
I just bought my sis a very nice ws6. We have had it for 2 days now. When i bought the car it was perfect. Last night i took it out and got on it till about 80mph and then got on the brakes. When i stopped the engine was dead. It took a couple of secs to fire back up and when it did there was this loud clicking sound. Kinda sounds like a rocker to me. The sound is rpm related.
Any Ideas fellas.
Based on what i know rockers don't just go from perfect to loose. That and why would the car die. I've run my lt1 on 5 cylinders before just to see if it could do it. Oohh and it hasn't thrown up any check engine lights or nothing.
Any advise would be greatly apreciated.
The car has 29000 miles on it.
Thanks Mike

Hmmm... Well, the LS1 has been known to bend pushrods at higher RPM...
Were you screaming it ... high RPM?

The car is bone stock, and its an auto.
I simply put the car in drive and put the pedal to the floor.
I hope thats not it.
I also have a bone stock lt1 with 100k miles on it that has a redline of 5800 that i have shifted more times than i can count at 6200 rpm never had a prob.

The pushrod issue is unique to the LS1 .... no relation to the LT1 in this instance.
I've seen it happen to guys that are rarely at redline.... doesn't take beating on it to make it happen.
I've been lucky with it so far. I road race mine & have the rev limiter set at 6500 rpm. I'm constantly bouncing the limiter in 2nd and 3rd.

thanks for the advise guys
I took it in to a pontiac dealership
and they said it was a stuck lifter
they changed the oil and it was fixed
i thought that was kinda interesting
any ideas on what would cause a 30k mile motor to get a stuck lifter?
Thanks Mike
