Need Advice on mods???
Okay so heres my situation I sold my old 67 chevy truck not running for $1,700 so now I've got money for some mods. What do you guys think I should do Im thinking lid and some sort of exhaust setup any advice would be appreciated. My cars a completely bone stock 02 SS M6 7000miles.

lid is the 100% right first mod.
what kind of exhaust is on the car? i'm not familiar with what comes on the 02SS. maybe just have a cutout installed.
does it have the hurst shifter? if so get a short stick...makes a WORLD of difference. otherwise i would get an aftermarket shifter (pro 5.0, ripper etc..)
beyond that i'd suggest headers if possible.
you also have the small stuff:
skip shift eliminator, 160* stat
how bout suspension?

I forgot Im not completely stock it does have a short throw shifter but not sure what kind. I would say I definately need to get the skip shift eliminator and Im tired of it trying to make me go into 4th from 1st. As for exhaust it has now, its whatever comes from the factory, but not the center exhaust. It just has the dual chrome tip tail pipes coming out the back. If i were to get headers any ones better than others also is their any issues I have to look it seeing as I live in California with emmissions.

Dont forget about the cost to install if you are not so mech incline like me. I just had: lowering springs; panhrd bar; lower control arms; relocation brackets; 3.73 gears w/ cover; cat back;new struts up frt, and strut tower plate. With the cost of struts and strut plates included, $1780!! (PS, DONT GO TO TILDEN BRAKES, 8 DAYS for all that!). I think I was tacken w/out a kiss!

if you guys would read...he's in cali ....no longtubes!!
don't waste money on shorties. they are not much better than the stock tubular manifolds found on your car. and shorties are the ONLY truely emissions legal header.
you could get a good offroad ypipe to eliminate the cats and open up the slightly restrictive Ypipe. and you'd be able to swap back to stock in case of emissions test.
but definately look into a lid, and some kind of exhaust. if you like the sound of your current exhaust, just get a cutout. either the manual one or an electric one so you can open it at will.
other mods that will make the car alot of fun would be subframe connectors and sway bars. and to stiffen up the susp for traction some lower control arms and a panhard bar.
as i said, some small stuff will help the engine run better and more efficient. look into the 160 deg thermostat and a throttle body bypass...keeps the car cooler and picks up 5 or so hp. and a custom tune from a place like www.madz28.com or www.pcmforless.com would help too.
check out the "how to" page on my website in the sig for the $1 skip shift mod, and also some nice headlight mods for more light on the road.

Re: Need Advice on mods???
Definately lid, definately sub-frame connectors. Those should be everyone's first mods, and they don't cost much, either.
After that, I'd go with a cutout (cheap and easy). Depending on your intentions, I'd also look into getting DRs and gears (4.11s) That might be a bad combo if you plan on going to the track a lot.
It's really hard to recommend anything though since you're in Cali, because I'd say to go ahead and get LTs, since that's a BIG wake-up call for your car. Maybe some other Cali guys can chime in and help you out

Re: Need Advice on mods???
I found out that I definently need to look into DR's(stock tires suck) because its no good to have power but not be able to put it on the road. Ran into a 5.0 stock mustang at a light and he starts Revving his car at me so I'm thinking lets go buddy. Light turns green and I baby the clutch so as not to blow the launch my tires start spinning a little then time to shift into second comes around(by this point were about even) and i shift perfect but as soon as my foot came of the clutch the tires start spinning and I feel the rear end of the car start sliding. so I shut it down.

Re: Need Advice on mods???
there are some GREAT tires that are better designed for street use and are quite sticky.
i personally love my firehawk SZ50s....tons of grip.
and look into the GForce KDs

It'll take A LOT of time for the value to actually go up.
As far as tires, my Nitto 555 (street tires) are pretty damn good. Really aggressive tread pattern too.
