well i thought the Z-34 was the monte carlo, well and the Lumina for a brief few years when the monte didnt exist. The mecham Z-29R is no joke.

As for the Z38, while it may be a GM RPO used on what ever car, It is no more significant than A car badged "WS7" by the owner. They just wanted to make a statement as to how it is a higher Z-letter so it must be stronger. Anyway there are Z-78 trucks so it makes little sense. Just as in 2nd gens a car with WS6 suspension package (not badged at the time) could also be a WS7 which i believe didnt have drum brakes.

Nice/cool car, yes...but it's really nothing special, trust me.

One of the guys in our club has one. It is definitely rare though, I think Mecham only made like 5(ish).

No, I think we're saying that it doesn't exist.

Now somebody can call/badge their Camaro as a Z38 if they want but IMO that still doesn't make it a "Camaro Z38."

My aunt bought a new Z38 Camaro in the mid eighties. Red with rear window shade. Special wheels automatic and special hood, it had some go fast parts too, a HO 305 I think. I don't have many specifics I'm working from memory.

Re: A Camaro Z38 ?

I know it’s an old thread but this is the ONLY topic ever discussing this car that I’ve found. The car I’m familiar with is an 85 model, sport coupe, LG4, automatic. Nothing special in the RPO codes. My Dad has told me he has seen at least two others in our area, three total, Oklahoma City. Best I can tell it was a dealer package put together. The car does have a Z38 emblem - not decal - so it was done with some earnest back in the day.
