3.73's????
Would it be worth going with 3.73 gears? I have an m6 and I was wondering if there would be a noticable difference in quarter mile time compared to the stock 3.42? I dont really want 4.11's because I dont really want to get into 5th gear in the quarter.

One more thing, if I do get gears what all do I need and is it something a local mechanic can do or should I take it to chevy? And what kind of price should I expected for the actual installation? (not the gears themselves)

Im not stuck on 3.73, I just thimk they sound a little better unless someone can talkme into 4.11. I just want to know if the 3.73 will give me a noticabale difference over the stock gears?

You'll probably spin a bit easier off the line. You won't notice any gas milage difference. You probably won't notice any difference at all, but its a possible .1-.2 at the track.
I'm in the same boat as you, I don't really want 4.10s cause I don't want to shift into 5th in the 1/4, and I do a lot of city driving too. If I had the money, I'd go with 3.73s.

I really don't think you will get into 5th gear in the 1/4 with the 4.10 gear. From what I have seen with 4.10 gears in the m6s you need to trap over 112 mph before you shift into 5th. Also gas milage really won't be affected more than 1-2 mpg and from what I've witnessed effected could mean improve. A BIG benifit with the 4.10s is the less clutch slippage required to get it moving. I think you would be better off all around with the 4.10s.
