z28 camaro prices way too high
Why is it so damn hard to find an accurately priced z28 Camaro?
Kelly Blue Book prices a '98 6spd z28 @ 7400. Shocking, it may seem.. because EVERYBODY asks way too much for their damn Camaros. I want to know what the ****ing deal is!
I've been shopping for the past 2 months for a 98 6spd z28 and I have found probably ONE decently priced car, and it sold within 3 days. Maybe it's just my area (Austin, TX), but I've searched eBay motors and they're all around the same price range too.
Plus, what is the deal with 70% (I looked up the numbers) of Camaros being v6, and of the remaining 30% only about 20% are manual. ****ing soccer moms ruin used sports car shopping.
Please, give me some feedback. I want professional opinions/commentary on why the Camaro market ****ing blows so much.

ppl want too much money for their cars. and they think that mods actually make them worth more. i shopped forever around Houston before finding my second and current car. i got on autotrader.com every night and i had the car in my driveway before the guy started recieving calls about it. u just have to know what you want and be patient 'cuz u'll find it.

people ask what people will pay.
your "expensive one" in the states are the cheap of the cheap in Canada.
Regardless of what book says they arent getting any cheaper thats for sure.
14k US (20k CDN) will get a LT1 Z28 mildly optioned M6 with average milage (like 85k km.... 55k miles).... that is if you can find one for sale even.
but its still a buyers market, so make an offer. having cash at hand helps

It's as simple as the Blue Book being wrong.
YOU should be a good judge of a decently priced car that's in the range you're looking for. You have been looking for 2 months, right?
I gave up on trying to find a six speed car. Looked for four weeks.

Well, a quick trip back into your college business courses will explain the situation quite easily, Exolution.
People are charging that much, because people are paying that much.
As well, your post answers your own question.
"Why are they costing so much? Why are there so few Z28s with the manual?"
Rarity often drives prices upwards.
Common sense, man. Common sense.

If you are looking for a Z28 with a 6-spd, you will probably stumble across one soon. I had been looking for an SS with a 6-spd for about 4 months, and finally found one. You may have to settle on a slightly higher price, 'cause what you don't want to pay, someone else will. I have to admit...these cars are very hard to find now. I luckily found mine and I'm am very pleased, despite I had to travel, call, and look through Autotrader.com everyday. My advice to you is.....if you want a 6-spd, wait for it. If you settle for an auto, you probably won't be happy with it. I found everything I was looking for and I am very pleased. I too thought I'd never find one. Like I did, you may want to call some Chevrolet dealerships and see if they can look and call you when they get one. There were some where I was on a waiting list. These cars are a big demand now and they usually don't last long on any lot.

I got lucky with mine...
I just bought my camaro for $2250
It has 106k total miles, but a new 350 tpi and a new tranny. It's perfect, except it needed a new head liner and a fuse for the horn when I bought it.
The trick is to look for a camaro thats for sale and needs something fixed that wont cost you too much to fix, that will probably drop the price alot more that you'll have to pay to fix it.
It also helps to talk to some old people that might own camaro's, they know they're getting old and would possibly sell it for cheap...my dad told me that when he was younger one of his friends bought a mint condition camaro from an old lady who's husband died, it was his car.....she sold it for $100
Just be patient and keep your eyes open

I just bought my 95Z for $7,000. It was at a dealerlot and I talked them down from 7,500. I looked for 2 monthes and had 2 cars sold out from under me. I was to the point where I wanted one and I didn't care if it was a 6 speed. Low and behold a week later while looking at Autotrader.com I sale a 1 owner, 70,000 mile car in GREAT shape, 6 SPEED, loaded for 7500. I called RIGHT away and the next day I had them put a hold on it and that weekend I drove to Chicago and bought it. Never been happier! Wait and it will come to you. Also since they are making them anymore everyone wants to charge up the ying yang for them.

ummmmmm......
According to kbb.com, a 98 6 speed with 73,000 miles on it with leather and T tops is retailed at 11,825.00
I got mine with 43,000 miles on it for 10,218.64 in December '03. The dealer was asking 11,500.00.

I thought that I was never gonna find a nice 6 spd when I was lookin for mine last year too. But i was on autotrader.ca every night and looking through classifieds all the time.
I basically travelled all over southern ontario to find mine. I even went so far as to take a day trip and travel 5 hours SW to the USA/Canadian border just to look at a camaro. Just look around, eventually you'll find one.
